Strategically Growing Our Distribution Client

Background

The client has successfully grown an industry-specific distribution business, importing internationally recognized brands from around the world and maintaining stock in a local warehouse for efficient and timely supply to the local market.


Over the past decade, the business has experienced remarkable growth, increasing its revenue from approximately AED 10,000,000 to AED 100,000,000. The client has ambitious plans for further expansion, aiming for a 5X growth in the next 10 years. However, despite the growth of the delivery team, all major decisions still rest with the owner, limiting the strategic bandwidth.

Customer service is a critical component of the business's success, making it essential to evaluate and realign internal processes and procedures.

Problem Being Solved

The owner recognized that while they had a talented team of industry professionals, there was a lack of a clear strategy, structure, and processes needed to drive the business through the next phase of growth.


It was urgently necessary to establish a unified vision for the entire business and prioritize it. Simultaneously, creating the necessary structure and processes to execute the strategy was crucial.

The Outcome

One of the MEAP Partners initiated an initial engagement working within the company to develop and document a strategic growth plan. This plan was communicated throughout the organization to ensure alignment among all stakeholders and the ability to implement proposed actions.


During the strategy development process, it became evident that relying solely on domestic organic growth would not meet the commercial aspirations within the specified timeframes. Therefore, the focus shifted towards international expansion and exploring inorganic opportunities, necessitating the establishment of robust processes.

There has been an ongoing engagement to support the implementation of the strategy, and the rollout of international expansion.

Additionally, there was a separate engagement to conduct a comprehensive review of the finance function within the business. This resulted in the hiring of a professional Finance Director to assist with aligning the finance function with the overall business strategy.
